When you hire a plasterer through Bouwsector België, there is no middleman: you get one of our 32 in-house plasterers, all on permanent contracts. A plasterer plasters about 100 m² a day on average. You know the cost upfront, because we work with a fixed price per m², materials included.
Your own plasterer for your job? Request your quote
Not a freelancer from a platform, but a permanently employed plasterer with a fixed price upfront
What do you get when you hire a plasterer from us?
You are not hiring a pair of loose hands, but a plasterer with everything that goes with the job. He works to our set method, and if anything needs doing after the plastering, we arrange the next tradesperson.
Item
How we arrange it
The tradesperson
An in-house plasterer on a permanent contract, not a subcontractor
Materials
Always included in the price per m² for plastering
Floor protection
With a protective floor runner, as a separate line in the quote
If the wall has to be painted after plastering, we only schedule the painter once the coat is dry and can be primed. So priming after plastering waits for the coat, and we keep an eye on how long plaster needs to dry for you.
Which jobs can you hire our plasterers for?
Our plasterers do all standard plastering, inside and out. We do not do Venetian or other decorative plaster. For most jobs we have a dedicated page with the method and the price.
For most jobs you pay a fixed price per m². A paint-ready wall costs €22.99 per m² and a paint-ready ceiling €23.99 per m², always including materials.
Way of charging
Price
Plastering walls, paint-ready
€ 22.99 per m²
Plastering ceiling, paint-ready
€ 23.99 per m²
Skim plaster, from 100 m² to 401 m² and more
€ 17.49 to € 14.49 per m²
Corner beads
€ 16.00 per linear metre
Laying a protective floor runner, up to 60 m²
€ 199.99
Work charged at an hourly rate
€ 47.50 per hour
Daily rate for a plasterer (small job without materials)
€ 499.99
Prices exclude VAT. For renovating a home over 10 years old, VAT is usually 6%; otherwise it is 21%.
Per m² or per day: which is better value?
A plasterer plasters about 100 m² a day on average. Set that against the rates and you can see where the tipping point lies.
Job
Per m², materials included
Daily rate, without materials
Usually makes more sense
60 m² living room, paint-ready
60 × € 22.99 = € 1,379.40
About 1 day: € 499.99 plus materials you buy yourself
Depends on what the materials cost; we work it out for you at the survey
250 m² of skim plaster in a new-build home
250 × € 16.49 = € 4,122.50
About 3 days: € 1,499.97 plus materials and risk
Per m², because the price is then fixed upfront
Prices exclude VAT. For renovating a home over 10 years old, VAT is usually 6%; otherwise it is 21%.
With a daily rate you pay for time, not for results: if the job overruns, the bill grows. With a price per m², that risk is ours. That is why we only charge per day when a job really cannot be measured in square metres, such as odd repairs scattered around a home.
On the hourly rate, sometimes. But an hourly rate says little as long as you do not know how many hours a job takes, or whether materials, floor protection and corner beads are charged on top. So always compare plasterers’ quotes on the total for the same walls, not on the price per hour.
You notice the second difference after the plastering. A freelance plasterer stops at the plaster coat, and then you have to find a painter or wallpaper hanger who can start at the right moment. With us they are in the same team, and we only schedule the next step once the wall is ready for it.
So ask every plasterer the same five things. Are materials included in the price? Who protects the floor, and is that on the quote? How are external corners finished? Does he hand over paint-ready or wallpaper-ready?
And who does the painting or wallpapering afterwards, and when? With us, the answers are listed line by line in the quote. Because a wall handed over ready for wallpaper, ready for paint or ready for plaster is not the same thing.
And if there is a question about the work later, you call one company that knows who plastered at your home. The same crew works from start to finish, to the same quality standards.
How does hiring a plasterer work, from request to handover?
You request a quote or arrange a phone consultation. A project manager goes through your job with you at no charge: which rooms, which surface and what goes on the wall after plastering.
Step
What happens
1. Phone consultation
At no charge: rooms, surface and the finish you want
2. Quote within 24 hours
Free, based on a price indication: fixed price per m² including materials, with the floor runner and corner beads separate
3. Site survey once you agree
We measure up and inspect the walls; after that the price is fixed
4. Working day
Protect the floor, fit the corner beads, apply the coat and level it
5. Drying and finishing
The coat dries, is sanded where needed, then primed
6. Handover
We walk through the work together and schedule the painting or wallpapering
It is best if you move large furniture out of the room beforehand. We always check your walls ourselves before the work starts, which sets us apart from companies that quote a figure from a distance: the final price covers what your wall really needs.
We work throughout Belgium, in Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia. We also carry out the site survey at your home anywhere in the country. Plasterer Bram has worked here for seven years.
Want to discuss with a project manager first what your walls need?
Do you work with your own plasterers or with freelancers?
With our own plasterers on permanent contracts. Bouwsector België has 32 plasterers, as part of a team of 97 tradespeople. No subcontractor will turn up at your door.
Can you hire a plasterer for just one day?
For a small job without materials, our price list has a daily rate of €499.99 for a plasterer, excluding VAT. For most jobs a fixed price per m² including materials is clearer. You will see which approach suits you in the quote.
Do I have to buy the plaster or other materials myself?
No. Materials are always included in our prices per m² for plastering. You do not have to buy anything yourself.
Can the plasterer also arrange the painting or wallpapering afterwards?
Yes. Our plasterers work in the same team as our 25 painters and 40 wallpaper hangers. We schedule the next step as soon as the plaster coat is ready for it.
How much space does a plasterer need in a lived-in home?
Enough to reach every wall: large furniture preferably leaves the room, and the rest goes to the middle. We protect the floor with a floor runner, which appears as a separate line in the quote.
