How it works: from request to handover

Which steps do you go through from request to handover?

Every step has a clear purpose, so you only decide once you know what needs doing and what it costs.

Prices exclude VAT. For renovating a home over 10 years old, 6% VAT usually applies; for new builds it is 21%.

We schedule the site survey and wall inspection only after you agree to the price indication. We come out for it anywhere in Belgium, in Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia. We calculate with the per-m² rates from our public price list, and with the online m² calculator you can make a first estimate in advance.

Why do you get a price first, and we visit afterwards?

Because you want to know quickly where you stand. Based on your rooms and m², you receive a quote with an honest price indication within 24 hours, without paying anything first.

If you agree, we schedule the site survey. Only when you see and feel a wall do you know whether renovation fleece can go straight on, whether a skim coat is needed first, or whether old wallpaper or loose layers have to come off. We check that before the work starts, so the difference doesn’t show up later as extras on the bill.

That way we only visit when you really want to go ahead. In a new-build home we then check straight away whether what the builder says is correct: are the walls wallpaper-ready, how are the ceilings finished and what condition are the doors and window frames in.

Who does the work, and how long does it take?

The work is done by our in-house tradespeople on permanent contracts: 40 wallpaper hangers, 32 plasterers and 25 painters. We don’t use subcontractors. Because the three trades work for the same organisation, we schedule them one after another with no waiting time.

Our scheduling guarantee applies here: we start on the day we agree together.

As a guideline: hanging, filling and painting renovation fleece in a complete home takes 3 days, plus drying time if a skim coat is needed first. A plasterer covers an average of 100 m² per day, and wallpaper removal also averages 100 m² per day. The process is the same whether you are having a new-build home finished or old walls refinished.

What do you need to arrange yourself?

Very little. We take care of the materials, the scheduling of the tradespeople and the order of plastering, wallpapering and painting. We ask you for access to the home on the agreed days, and for space along the walls where we work.

Preferably move large furniture out of the work area yourself, or put it in the middle of the room. It also helps to know what to do before the wallpaper hanger comes.

What if something unexpected turns up during the work?

Sometimes you only see something during the work that wasn’t visible at the site survey, for example a loose layer under old wallpaper. We don’t simply carry on. We show you what we have found, explain what is needed and what it costs, and only continue after your agreement.
